Just sold the GV and now need to replace the wifeys car and we have found an 05 swift. only 116,000k and at the top of our budget so I was wondering if anyone had heard of any issues with them?
I was going to pull the rocker cover off to check if the engine is sludged or has bad carbon build up as there is a lack of service history in the book and the car has only done 6000k in 12 months (when it was last serviced)
Don't want to buy the car and find there is a common fault with them but a google search didn't take me far :p
Also if somone could point me in the direction a FSM that would be awsome.

Wench has one of these, the same year and model, it is a great machine. Hers is still low Ks but it has been faultless. Id be happy to buy it.

Stekky reckoned the only issue was noisey rear drum brakes. I've also heard of cats melting due to running a bit rich but have nothing to back that up

I had one, we flogged the thing and sold it with 178,000kms on it,
id drop a m15 in my lwb in a heartbeat, it was a solid motor
the whole car was good... outside of service items the only thing we fixed was a engine mount

The mrs had one for about 4 years. Did over 100k in that time, we never had any issues with it apart from the rear wheel bearings which were fixed under warranty at 60xxx ks.

I'd buy another.

They are a great car and not a lot goes wrong with them,

Rear wheel bearings seem to be a fairly common fault when they come in at work, but the workshop reckons swifts have bullet proof reliability.

Patchy service history is something i would be careful of however.
