hey guy my cars back firing under load or high revs?

its a MG410WT with a g16a, it was running fine then one day i turned it on in the driveway and it had a miss and ran abit rough, changed all the plugs ( old ones black and fouled) ran sweet again for awhile, i took it for a drive and it randomly started back firing and carrying on and not really going anywhere, i took it home and its backfiring out the carby and the exhaust under high revs or load, i marked the dissy and changed it and when i retarded the timing it idled abit smoother but still back fires under load?

Anyone have any thoughts or had this problem before? maybe the timing belt has jumped a tooth? ( not sure if it would run if it did)

A car I used to own did this when the ignition lead on one cylinder was intermittent. (For some reason the same cylinder would regularly have the ignition lead fail.)

It would be okay until under load.

It probably isn't your issue, but might be worthwhile checking.

UPDATE

i have a g16a in my sierra ( just pulled it out of an old sierra and put it in my new toy) it ran fine before i pulled it ( full day fourbying the day before) and ran fine when i first put it in, the other day i drove out my driveway and it was fine, within 50m it started coughing and spluttering under load so i turned around and went home, when i got back it started coughing and spluttering (well seems to be breaking down under load) even when just reving it in the driveway in nuetral,

i replaced the fuel in the tank, blew out the line and put new filters in the line and the fuel is clean, i changed plugs ( they were black black) and also changed the leads. also changed the oil and filter.

tried different rotor button and caps ( no difference, all almost new)

checked the timing belt and the keyways and they were all perfect,
i also noticed it didnt have an earth from block to body so i added one of them,

also compression tested them and they were all dead even.

starting to lean towards coil? unless my alternator has shat itself?
any idea's?

cheers

Replaced everything, rusty water for coolant, fuel, fuel filters, plugs leads dissy cap and rotor button, gt40r coil and it was still stuffed, got annoyed at it and thought id take it for a drive and gave it a flogging and it came good, think it might of been the choke, stupid g13 carby and wax choke
