doesn't flex as much as I would like (I still run the sway bar)

I still have my sway bar in, but I wonder how much the sway bar limits flex in the front end of a GV anyway. It seems to me it is limited by design moreso than the swaybar exclusively.

I have nothing to base this on apart from comparing two different GVs with and without sway bars (not a fair comparison really, as suspension setups are vastly different anyway) but flex seems to be limited by any number of factors (CV angle, bind, etc) long before the swaybar seems to limit travel.

Then again, I could be talking out of my arse and hijacking a thread again. I blame the red wine.

Yes it is the inner CV closest to the diff which is popping out. Ive tried putting it back in numerous times and I do not feel it lock into place... It just sits in the side gear but doesn't actually lock into place. would you know where I could buy a CV snap ring from? Thanks in advance :)

I think I had the same problem a few years ago. Pull the CV and have a good look at the ends of the splines, if the ends are burred over the CV won't push back into the diff. I fixed mine with a small flat needle file, you should feel it lock into the diff as you push it in. Try twisting a bit as you push and don't use a hammer.

Suzuki main dealers also sell the snap rings for a few $, you will need a VIN number.

I've run mine with and without the swaybar, and I'm adament it killed one of my dobinson struts with the extra droop without out it. Its actually a fair difference in down travel between the two, I've put it back on as the car handles so much better.

The sway bar would slow and somewhat limit the rebound. That would be y it saves struts.
Realy we all should be running limit straps to save the struts

also is it normal for the back shocks and springs to feel like they are jumping in and out of place? im starting to think Calmini sent the wrong lift kit.... this is pissing me off so bloody much.

Springs might not be correctly installed. On the calmini kits I've played with in Vitaras, it was common for one of the springs to get a bow in it and pop/clang.

Take one of the springs and look at it - the ends are different - basically you put the new one in the way the old one came out. Going from memory, I think the top has a smaller diameter.

I've also run with and without sway bar and when I didn't have the sway bar on I killed 2 passenger struts within a month. With it on I haven't killed one.

Without the sway bar I definitely get more flex but it feels less stable on and off road.

My only issue I had was breaking stock swaybar links. had to make mew one out of some steering tie rod ends off a Honda coupe of some sort. Its in my build thread somewhere.

I guess that's kind of what I meant, albeit worded poorly. The limits of the front end are reached from a reliability point of view before the sway bar becomes a problem. Sure, if issues around CV bind, excessive droop and struts flogging out could be sorted then removing the swaybar would be worthwhile but as far as I can see removing it does nothing to improve the static limitations of the vit/GV front end in stock-ish form.

Disclaimer: I am basing this on nothing but anecdotal, complete bullshit evidence.

Totally agree.^^^^^ I removed my strut spacers as they were causing the CV's to bind before they got to full droop. and struts didn't like them at all.

To date I've gone through 4 stets of struts, 3 passenger side CV's and 5 drivers side (the ones I remember anyway) And it was a lot easier to break CV's and kill struts without the swaybar fitted.

The struts didn't like what - the spacers or the CVs?

Struts didn't like the strut spacers. Everything was binding up before struts got to full droop and it put a lot of side load on the strut shaft and top mount.

With the extended Dobinson struts the need for strut spacers or shaft extenders is pointless. they do more bad then good.

In what way is the back "dodgy"?

I found that without the swaybar, the increased body roll allowed the rear suspension to "unload" and it was noticeably easier to provoke a slide. With the swaybar, it will still slide, but it's a much more "controllable" slide.

hey guys what do you think about complimenting the calmini kit with a 2inch body lift to compliment some bigger tyres im thinking 31inch should fit perfectly
