Hello all I have just got my first suzi and have a few questions. I am sure they might of been asked before but easy help would be lovely. I have a 1989 soft top with a 1.3. It is stock except for a webber upgrade which is nice. I am looking for a club in the south brisbane or brissy region.

Now for the car questions...
1. Is it worth the expenditure to get reduction gears for the car ...It will mainly be a beach and weekend vehicle
2. For leaf spring upgrade is anyone running longer length leafs then standard to add to the articulation or just simple 2" lift is enough for most things
3. To run bigger tyres..ideally i want to run just 31's will i need the reduction gears and the suspension lift
4. Where is a good place to get a basic role cage for it as its a soft top and i know what type of driver I am
5. Are diff lock available for the standard diffs or is that a hilux upgrade axles type job
6. I am looking at putting a cam in the little motor and extractors on it will it be worth the effort to do it

Thanks for your help to who ever answers I just dont want to go off on what I think is a good idea and in the end wont help.

1. Maybe - depends on definition of weekend vehicle.
2. Standard lift is okay. You won't need any extra articulation for the beach but refer answer 1.
3. Yes. 31s undergeared will be worse than a stocker car on modestly oversized tyres.
4. Where are you based?
5. Yes. Do a search.
6. Nope. Gears and lockers definitely before a cam upgrade.

Thanks Reubs for the answers
Based at Ipswich..south west side of brisbane. As for weekend vehicle atm will based pretty much as a beach vehicle but plans to make it a bit more interesting. Thanks for the info about the cam and extractors easier to spend cash else where on it now. I have been told that 6.5 reductions gears are where its at....I just talked to him when i was at a wrecking yard today, he said that i needed a transfer brace if I do that???? sorry for beeing a noob but want to get it right the first time or else wife will shoot me ...

Try http://daisybuilt.com/ for your cage. Tom built my exo cage, sliders etc, but he is known for building tube stuff from rear bars to entire buggies.

As for a transfer brace, your chassis mounts will require bracing before the case itself. As an example - Hizook at Tough Tracks has never had a transfer case ring, just strengthening added to the factory arms, solid mounts and beefed up mounting tags on the chassis. Been good for nearly 10 years now including 6 years of most Tough Tracks rounds.

What sort of driving will you be doing? I've been having fun for years with mild mods and only just bought got a car with gears and lockers.

6.5s with 31s will be way to low for beach work
Try 4.9s or 5.14s
