hey guys have a 1993 vitara lwb 1.6 efi manual wondering what's the tow rateing cheers

I have a soft top and the GVM is only 1450kg, so with 31's, HD wheels, bull bar and other accessories i think I can only tow about 300kg
which is fine for my little 11ft tinny but not much more

i have a 93 efi lwb vit, the other day i towed a 6x4 filled right up with sand (couple of scoops of a digger)...not sure what it weighted, maybe someone else has an idea.

Driving wasnt the problem...it was stopping. I have brand new discs and rotors on the front so they werent too bad...it was the BFG AT's thats were struggling you could really hear them deforming right before they locked up.

Interesting side note, under hard brakes whe i downshifted to 2nd the rears just locked up...must have been no weight on them

Local sand supplier estimates a 6x4 with roughly 1/2 m^3 of sand is at the 750kg unbraked limit
6'x4' about 9" (22cm deep)

Under heavy braking, the nose dives and the rear lifts.
A heavy trailer pushing forwards can exacerbate the nose dive/rear lift, as the tow ball is above the rear axle etc.
The tow ball load needs to be quite high to counter act this.

It 's easy to get into trouble towing

wow...didnt realised i was that far over the load limit..learn something new everyday and what not to do again.

Intersting side note even with 30's it didnt struggle power wasnt too bad...

According to the owners manual that came with my LWB Vit, tow limit is 450Kg unbraked, and 680Kg braked.
I tow 400kg and would not like towing any more than that.

Brakes make a HUGE difference. Acceleration notwithstanding, my SWB 4-banger GV tows my 1000kg boat way better than it does my lightweight 5x4 trailer when it's loaded up with a few hundred KG of gear.
