Hello all,
I have just brought a Jimny, owned big 4wds before this.
A few questions. I am Looking at buying this lift kit

I have just read so many conflicting posts on what is actually needed for a 40mm to 50mm lift. I read that I would need some rear shock brackets, it is a must apparently.
Any help would be awesome. I want to buy the kit tomorrow.

It will do the Job. I had that kit in my 04 jimny (was installed before i bought it.) Seemed ok for the money. Add some castor correction and get it wheel aligned after.

Cheers Greenzook. I have ordered the kit and I am fitting tyres Friday (215 75 15) Gets an exhaust Thurs too.

After the lift you may find you need an extended rear brake line. Ok to drive around but don't get too flexy.

I don't believe so. It will depend on the kit. I have no idea about the kit posted

Custom job with a set of extractors. I ordered the lift to come first but there has been delays, so it'll be tyres first. Could be interesting having 215 75s with no lift.

After some reading I think I'll definitely have trouble with tyres and no lift. By the looks of it 215 75s fit on the stock 15 x 5 rim with no scrubbing but anything bigger like my 15 x 7s and it'll cause scrubing. May need to track down some stock rims.

i think that lift includes the ultima shocks which are terrible. mine are about 10 months old & at least one is blown, but even before that they're far too hard & there is no give in the rear suspension at all (can literally stand on the towbar & jump up & down & get barely any movement).

stock rims with the 215s is fine, probably not with your other rims.

you don't 'need' any castor correction for a 2" lift so you could've possibly put that money into better shock absorbers (i just bought new dobinsons for my rear at $125 each).

i don't have any rear shock brackets, some people have them but i can't honestly see what improvement they would provide unless you've stripped out the thread for your shock bolt & drilled it through (like the jimny bits kit).

Cheers for the reply GraphicX. I will run with these shocks for now until I have some spare coin again. Hopefully they are improved a little. I am trying to track down some stock rims for the 215s.

If the lift measures 50mm or under; the rear brake line should be fine.
But the fronts will be pretty tight at full drop.

that's how i figured it with mine. the king springs on their own are almost $500, so just used the crappy shocks to get by with til i could start upgrading. very harsh ride in the meantime though.

I just got an email back from the company selling the kit, they are ultima shocks. Hopefully they aren't too bad. Won't have the kit here until well after the tyres are fitted.

Lift is in, tires are on and exhaust is done.
I had the tires (215 75 15s) on before the lift and no scrubbing.
Lift is in with no hassles and sits fine on the road, no wobbles.
The exhaust sounds great and gives my lil zook a nice note.
Very happy with my lil zook.
