Has anyone had dramas running Narrow track diff flanges (shearing bolts/twisting bolts) since there smaller bolt size than W/T, when running bigger Vit motors, Lockers and bigger tyres?. Only asking since I might have to run early NT flanges according to LROR to run aftermarket gears.
Seems like a bit of a step backwards if planning to run beefy custom tailshafts and have pissy flange bolts.

I've recently heard this is a problem but haven't ever seen any failures myself.

Remember that the bolts don't experience any shear load - they're there to provide enough clamping force between the flanges that the friction between the two surfaces is what does the job.

I've sheered the bolts plenty of times (with a g16). I don't mind as it's easier to replace 4 easy to access bolts than to replace a diff centre/uni joint or other likely point of failure. It's the fuse in my rear driveline.

I just ordered gears, why do you need to change flanges?

My LROR 4.57 gears have the V type spline cut, according to them you have to run early diff flanges. There was a transition year in 92 apparently and some W/T ones do fit, i have two sets of these W/T but are badly worn from the oil seal. I also have new square cut 92W/T ones and these don't fit. I have early N/T ones and these feature the V cut spline and they fit them. Going to the trouble of a full diff rebuild and axle upgrade I might as well do things right first time.
