Hi all looking at buying a stockman but it needs a gear box cross member ( currently has a bit of steel bar bolted through the floor pain) only issue is its a five speed gear box, behind a 1 litre motor. Does anybody know if the standard cross member will fit? Or is there another cross member i could use so i dont have to break out the welder

What 5 speed box is it? A 1.3? Or a 1 litre with the gears inside the gearbox changed over to 5 speed?

The hybrid 5spd used behind the 1ltr motors in marutis bolts up to factory crossmember. It may be possible that someone has fitted a carry 5spd ?

Could you please educate me on a carry 5 speed ? Ie Whats it out of ? Any dramas with them that you know of?

Also is there an easy visual check i could do to tell if its one or the other?

It's 250KM away so trying to get as much knowledge about it as i can.

Sorry for being needy but my complete knowledge of zooks is there cheap to run and go places landcruisers cant.

Also what is a 96 muruti with about 140 000km on the clock worth?

96 maruti with a hacked up crossmember isnt gunna fetch top dollar
The carry 5spd is out of a suzuki carry.
I can confirm that the hybrid box to convert from 4-5spd bolts in to 96 maruti with no mods at all so its anyones guess what box u have.

Yeah, the hybrid 5 speed uses the same casing as a 4 speed so is a 100% direct bolt in fit.

Carry box has the bellhousing pattern rotated because the engine are slanted right over. Other than that, they're pretty much the same (they have a funky cable shifter too, but I think a sierra shifter bolts in). If it had a carry box fitted it'd be on one heck of a weird looking angle.
