Hi ya folks, a friend has just bought an auto Jimny, what's the procedure for towing an auto when the engine isn't running?

Put it in 2wd and pull the rear tailshaft.

If an auto sucks in water during a crossing and stalls what's the procedure for pulling it out?

Gearbox or Transfer in neutral. Pull it out.

no neutral in the Jimny transfer so I assume auto trans in neutral? I've never owned an auto so it's all very foreign to me.
I read years ago that you should only flat tow an auto for short distances, is that true?

gear box in neutral. dont tow it unnecessarily far or fast or both.

The concern is that the oil pump in the auto is not working when the car is off. As has been said, drop it in neutral for recoveries and go.

If you're going to be flat towing you need to remove the tailshaft or the bearings will be spinning without oil for an extended period of time.
