Hi All,
Just new to the forum, been a Land Rover Man for years with a collection of four and always wanted a little zook and just bought a 92 Vitara SWB, 1.6 carby.
I'm in the process of freshening it up just pulled down a spare 1.6 16 valve EFI motor to rebuild and and then drop in along with an EFI conversion, motors is going off for machining this week.
The little bus is in need of new tyres and was wondering if a few people can advise, I was thinking of buying some 15x8 0 offset steel wheels and put some 30x9.5x15 cooper STT and was wondering if they will fit without to much rubbing, current suspension is stock standard with the intention of a 30 to 50mm lift hopefully in the future or will I have to do it now to fit those wheels and tyres, not really worried about a light guard chop and flares more than happy to get the plasma cutter out
Thanks Matt

I definitely wouldn't run 9.5" tyres on 8" rims. I'd choose a 6 or 7 inch rim, which will make clearance easier to achieve. suspension lift doesn't have any effect on tyre clearance. Never has, never will. 30's will pretty much clear stock though.

Cool thanks, I was only going to go 8" as I might like to be able to run 33" if I wanted to go nuts with the build lol, as I did with a couple of my rangies. Awesome to know that 30"s can fit no problems stock standard

33 12.5's are about the worst possible tyre you could run on a Vitara. Terrible height to width ratio.
33 10.5, 255 85 16, 9/34, 32 9.5, 34 9.5 are all much better choices and none of them require an 8" rim.
