Can I put some seats from a Nissan GQ into a 1999 GV? They're really comfey aftermarket racing seats.. I'm assuming I can just attach the rails from the current seats to the GQ seats?

Cheers, Sam.

Anything can be fitted with the right amount of determination. They won't be a straight fit, they'll require some kind of modification

Personally, do you think it'd be worth it? They'd be a good upgrade over my stock seats.

Only you can determine that. I've spent literally thousands of dollars on aftermarket (and sometimes even, actual race) seats for my cars over the years. If you think it's worth it, it's worth it.

Early GV seats are nothing special in my experience.

I always prefer an upgraded seat, especially if you're spending large amounts of time in them

What are the legalities around seats.
As far as i understand, if they are ADR approved then its fine?

I have Swift GTI seats in my sierra, is this an item i can eb defected on? or will it be an issue if i go for a roadworthy?

i do not know about Vic but in NSW the seat install has to be engineered.

WA they don't need to be engineered as long as you re-use the original mounting system (adapters are ok). Then you just get a mod permit for "sports seats" which costs $23 or so at licensing. No inspection needed.

I'm sure technically you could be defected for replacement seats, but as they are a stock seat on a stock rail I don't think there would be any grounds for a RWC fail or defect. The po po will always find something easier than that like tyre coverage or tyre size, tick the RWC box and let you deal with anything the RWC picks up.
