I just bought a transfer with 6.5s in it and found it wasn't selecting any gears. the stick wouldn't move then I could hear something in the case. I pulled it apart and found a detent ball floating around in the case. now my question is on the two selector shafts is there a spring, detent ball, shaft, detent ball , shaft , detent ball then spring? Cause mine only had one spring and one detent ball all removable from the plug on the box. Any help would be great and if there are two springs are they different lengths?

Low range off-road has a full set of instructions that should tell you exactly what you need to know

It's possible someone removed the interlock detent to create a poor man's twin stick. But yes, you'll need to read some instructions to get it back the right way.

I missed out on those gears because I got the mobile number wrong, sounds like I might have dodged a bullet, haha.

x2 for low range instructions, very easy to read with plenty of photos.

I pulled the shifter forks right out like an idiot when I did my gears. had to find an original manual to work out how it went back together - and its a bitch to get it together

All sorted thanks guys I did it like low range said but it had no detent in 2wd hi so it could fall out so I put another spring and detent ball in and now it shifts like a brand new second hand preloved one haha which is still pretty good
