hi guys im hoping maybe someone on here has this same problem. but my jimny(2001) over the last few months has been idling abit rough when pulling up at lights ect. and now the check engine light has been coming on then after a short amount of time it turns itself off. i got a scan tool off ebay but have found out that its not compatible with the jimny. will the paper clip trick work with the engine light off?

What scanner did you get my check engine light came on after checking the air filter my wifes dad had one he got off ebay and it worked on my jim. is a 2011 model but not sure if that makes a difference. As for the idle problem have you tried cleaning the air intake with some carby cleaner i had the same problem with a mirage once so i did that and fixed it right up.

Vgate Scan OBD Scan only costed $15 so im not fussed about it. i have got the air intake cleaned when the idle problem first started about a year ago.

it fluctuates from about 1500 (when cold) other wise at about 1000 and drops to almost stalling so im guessing about 600rpm

i did the crank angle sensor a while back, but when the crank angle went my revs dropped while driving. im thinking it could be plugs or leads coils or o2 sensor :?: but have no idea
