Hi Guys,

I have recently become the proud owner of a 2015 Jimny and I was just wondering if anyone knew a place in Sydney that will fit a snorkel to my car.
I am under the impression that the 2012+ models have a slightly different front end and as a result the template used for fitting the snorkel doesn't line up.

It is very very easy to DIY. I installed mine the other week within 1 1/2 hours including waiting for paint to dry and a few beers.
If I really wanted to, I could've had it done within 45mins.

Is yours the face lift model though?

I had read a couple of threads of people fitting the pre-2012 snorkels onto the new models. My understanding was that they fit the air box, just don't quote match the panels perfectly and I think the pillar bracket had to be on a little bit of an angel to get the main part of the snorkel to match up with the body a bit better.

That's all just from my hazy memory and could be total BS.
But as long as it matches up with the air box that's the main thing, which I believe they do.

Mine isn't the facelift model, but as far as I know the only differences were the bonnet and grille. I could be wrong but the quarter panels look to be the same.

Front guards are different from what I've heard.

It is pretty easy to line things up, the guard is just taller but where the snorkle goes it is the same.

Just need to spend a bit of time looking at how things fit before drilling anything.

Yeah it is just a $100 eBay snorkle for 98-12 pre facelift jimnys. Fits my jimny fine.

I got TJM to fit one to mine a couple weeks back. 2015 model. It was for the pre-facelift model but they made it work with minimal changes to the template.

I have only fitted Safari ones & they don't yet do a specific snorkel for the up-date.
The guard shape of the up-date cars (with the bonnet scoop & the grill being separate from the bonnet) is different.
The Safari snorkel & template designed for the earlier cars, is adaptable to the up-date, but it pushes the body of the snorkel away from the car as it rises up the pillar - also leaves a gap under the bottom edge.
Made a new top mount bracket (to the A-pillar) out of 3mm alloy, curved & bent to shape. When finished, it looks acceptable & unless pointed out, you would hardly know that it is not quite right for the car.
Sounds like other snorkel brands fit a little easier / better?.

I had a TJM Airtec snorkel fitted on my 2015 Jimny about 2 weeks ago.

One of the guys at TJM said it couldn't be done. Called up days later and the guy spoke to the installers and they said it is just a bit more fiddly. Wasn't the cheapest but it looks schmick.

Guards 50mm higher on face lift. So drop ya template 50mm. Easy.

I don't think I have an pictures - was a customers car.
In comparison to the TJM Airtec, the bottom edge of the body is straight across above the flare - it doesn't dip down at the front.
There ends up a 'gap' of approx. 5mm along the bottom edge, between the snorkel body & guard.
Up the 'A' pillar, the snorkel body leaned out approx 10mm from where it should have been if designed for this up-date car, meaning the supplies top bracket was too short. This was remade in alloy & looked fine.

Have bought a "Jimny" snorkel and trying to fit to a 2015 model. Someone said just to drop the template 50mm. Does that mean measure back from the bonnet edge 50mm and line up the template with this new line?
Is the rear edge of the template still correct?
Very reluctant to start drilling holes!!

It seems to depend on the brand of snorkel a bit.
The height of the whole guard is up on the later cars - look inside the engine bay at the top of the inner guard & you csan see the gap where the earlier shape guards sat - simple for Suzuki to leave the inner guards alone & just change the shape of the outer mudguards.
Door shut line is in the same place, so rear edge is fine.
Suggest the TJM Airtec looks a better fit than the Safari.
Use the hole in the inner guard, where the original airbox duct goes, as a reference point & see what height that ends up on the outside (place a spirit level across the top of the guard & measure down) - then check where the snorkel body interacts with that hole. The Safari version stops short & has another duct that runs along between the inner & outer guards - harder to use the inner guard hole as a reference.
