My trusty old 85 holden drover is about to get some love after a rebuild got sidelined after going under in a flood. I lost interest in it for a while but now want to get stuck back into it. The original diff centres with 340 thou on them where not leaking when i last got to this point but i don't trust the seals now. Seeing how the rear is out again i am thinking of new seals and bearings and some sort of locker or lsd. I am not a regular on here so i am a bit ignorant of what's around and could use some advice. I have had detroit lockers new and old style and a pos-a-trac diff in my old hilux and liked the pos-a-trac best, not sure if they make them for these old suzuki's. I don't want a welded centre as it's for around town as well so maybe an air locker? It will be a basic stock lines(sort of) rebuild with the g13a and 5 speed, probably leave the front a stock open for now so want the rear to work well in soft sand towing a trailer and occasional mud with a basic lift leaf suspension. Nothing over the top, just practical. Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

year and type/model of diff will help for a google search, that would be the extent of my prowess on the topic but wanted to spark up a convo and ask a question :)

It's an SJ413, 3.9 ratio and 4 spider gear diff.

I'd fit an air locker if you have the funds or a chinasooooooooooong locker if you don't.

I'd avoid detroit/lockwrong/spartan auto locker, they drive worse than welded on road.

I am also told a pg(phantom grip) do one as well, or at least someone uses their design. I am not too sure the pg in my gti is any good yet, it drives like i want but the oil goes dirty quick. I was hoping for a suzuki sport slippery which i am told are rare. If anybody knows of one anywhere? I am not sure on what models had what diff but mine is a stock 85 holden drover 8QT16 Van according to the holden plate and the suzuki one temporarily lost but i know i have it somewhere. I would have thought they where all the same. Mine is the 1300 sohc 5 speed. By memory i think the build date was mid 84.

The name Phantom grip should give some sort of indication of the type of locking it provides. I had one in my GTiR and it was a POS.

Air locker would be ultimate but a Spool is excellent value for money

I would give up on trying to find an LSD and move straight to a proper locker.
