Well I have just installed a reconditioned head on my zuk. Tried following the timing instructions. :? I think I've done it right but the manual is confusing. Since I had to swap over the cam and rockers I had the dizzy out. Lined up the timing marks. The manual said the rotor on the dizzy should be at the top. No worries put the dizzy in with the rotor to the top.
Start adjusting the rocker clearances. :?: The cam lobes didn't allow for any adjustment. Rotate the crank 360 and I can adjust the rockers.

Manual says. Check rotor is in the position of fig . (rotor to the top) If rotor is out of place, turn crankshaft 360.(rotor now at bottom) In this state , check valve lashes at valves. 1, 2, 5, & 7. Rotate crank 360 check valve lashes 3, 4, 6 & 8.

The question is which state? The state in the figure or the state after rotating the crank?

Should the rotor be at the top to adjust 1, 2, 5, & 7 as this is the way I eventually did it. Had to take he dizzy outand move it 180.

Thought I had better check before I turned the key.
Oh, I installed extractors but don't have the exhaust connected up yet. Will it be loud? :P

Thanks Rusho, I was pretty sure I had done it right, just needed someone to confirm it.

So it could be loud hey. 8) I'll soften 'em up by letting LTM21 play his drums with all the doors open. :D

Had new neighbours move in next door yesterday. What a great way to welcome to da hoood.

Daughter's 18th next week too. 8O Normally I'm very quiet.

The rotor needs to be pointing to number one cylinder on the cap (top) when there is clearance at both valves on number 1 cylinder.

If there is no clearance under the valves on number 1 rotate the engine 1 turn and try again.

You should write tech manuals ball. That is the simplest and the best description of what I ended up doing.

A suzi without an exhaust, is still, only a 1.3l without exhaust, how loud can it be.

My lil girl is extractors, very short pipe, straight thru muffler, an thats it, quiet compared to my V8 with a full system.
