contrary to popular belief on this forum... these are not meant to be locked at rest, the pinion is what locks them once you are driving andforce is applied to the oval pinion hole.. that being the case you should be able to jack the diff up (obviusly being sure to do it on flat ground and front wheels chocked so it wont roll anywhere/on you) and you should be able to turn one wheel forwards while someone else is turning the other wheel backwards.

if you turn them both the same way then it will lock the centre against the pinion shaft which is how htey "automatically lock"

video below explains very well exactly how they work inside the car.

hope that helps.

U gotta grind the thrust washers down most likely.
From memory you remove all the factory washers, cant expect much from a $200 locker

HA! sorted i left the thrust washers in. there does seem, to be a bit of back lash not in the crown wheel and pinion but in the locker its self to the axles...
it might wear in.. i dunno....
sorry one quick one guys.. if i order another for the front is it the same 26 teeth ??

Only if you have upgraded front axles. The standard front axles are 22 spline. I wouldn't bother putting a locker in the front end of a car with standard 22 spline axles.

Lash is normal - note how the cross pin isn't a tight fit in the two couplers? that's where the lash is coming from. It's what applies force to the dog teeth as torque is applied in order to prevent the locker disengaging.

Ah, so what you are saying is that when torque/drive is applied, the cross pin forces itself against the cam gear 'locking' the dog teeth.
