Hey all I'm pretty new here :P , just wondering what tyres people would recommend for a stock 1991 Sierra sj70. It has stock rim's, am looking to get a decent set of AT's thinking about going 28" or 29" what are peoples thoughts? :peaceout:

To do what?

If you don't want to deal with gearing, 215/75/15 is the largest feasible tyre. (28") These fit on standard rims.

Beyond that, fitment involves progressively more work and will generally require a rim change to a 6" rim at least. This might be justified depending on what you want the car to do, but not if you don't need the added capability.

Cheers for the reply, basically just going to be using it for general 4x4'ing nothing too crazy something that's going to be good for the beach/road/and going through muddy bush tracks without having to stress too much haha. What 28" AT would you recommend?

Thanks!

Anything brand name will be pricey... BFG, Cooper, Mickey T etc

If you don't want to spend big dollars then buy the no name brand tyres, they'll do the job just as well. Either eBay or rock up to a tyre store and ask some questions

For what it's worth, I had 30" Firenza MT383's on my Sierra, they cost me $140 per corner. So a cheapie, they were brilliant though! Sierra's aren't too fussy for tyres because they are so light.

+1 to asking for no name brands.

Have a read of this. May help or make you more confused

I have run Federal MTs for the last 3 years on mine and for the price I rate them highly.
