Hi all,

I picked up a 98 Jimny (G13BB) Automatic yesterday and the temp gauge does not go up to operation temp when driving. from research I have done this is causing the Auto to not shift into overdrive because it relies on engine temp to reach a certain point to engage? Is this correct? Or doe the transmission have its own temp sensor?

If I drive it up the road and back at 80kmph at high rpm due to no overdrive and pull up and leave it for 5mins it will get close to operating temp then works fine.

I have ordered a new temp sender from suzi store and I have a 28mm hose adapter on its way to fit an aftermarket water temp gauge.

Any suggestions or have I got this sussed?

Grab a genuine Suzuki thermostat and bung that in.

It sounds like the temp gauge is working. However thermostats can, and regularly do, fail in the open position

So you think it's circulating all the time?

I'll add one to my order. Hope it's the issue!
