Hey everyone!

I have a question for those clued onto the electrical side of things... I've actually gotten my hands onto the OEM Jimny rear cargo light and want to install it into the rear recess where it's originally meant to go (Rear passenger side). The JDM models have a wire harness you can plug straight into, but the export versions don't. So I was thinking of splicing into the front dome light wires and routing them through to the rear. As I haven't really ever gone beyond hooking up radios and speakers, I'm a bit apprehensive touching anything until I can confirm I won't burn out the car doing this.

I actually have the wiring harness for the rear light connection (seen in last picture). So It shouldn't be too hard for me to figure out which wire is which. If I just splice and wire it from the Front Dome to the new rear Dome and solder on the end of the plug from the harness into the light - that should be fine right? 8O

Please excuse my rough knowledge on auto electrics! I've even asked for a quote from the local and they haven't even bothered to respond.

I would think that would be ok. Check the fuse rating for that circuit and do some calcs on the bulb wattages and current and also check what other circuits are on that fuse.
If the current is too high for the fuse then you could go to LED bulbs. But what is an interior light bulb? like 5 watts?

Amps = watts divided by volts

I don't expect you will overload the circuit with one extra globe. As watermouse says if you are worried use LED globes.

Thanks for the responses guys! I've put it on the backburner for now as I have more important things going on! Billy, you can order all the required parts from Suzuki Japan directly via their Rakuten online store.

Heres the article that got me onto it http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/showthread.php/209337-Bootlight-for-Jimny?p=2778736#post2778736
