G13BA where a G13B is should be a straight swap mechanically. The only difference I can think of is the wiring to the carby. Some changes to emission control stuff. Easy swap

A g13b is an EFI twin can 16v swift GTi motor, not a carby Sierra motor.
It's most likely a g13ba.

. It has g13b stamped on the back of the block ... Hence my confusion

There are SOHC carbureted G13Bs out there - I have one, and I've had the car it came out from new, so I know the history of it.

Out of curiosity what's the difference to the G13BA? What did it come out of?

It's a 93 5 door Swift and as far as I know, it's identical to the G13BA as used in a Swift.

My similar age swift also has an 8v carb G13b. A friends Sierra had one, it wasn't the original engine though.

So engine number is g13ba 67xxxx 98 so is it a g13b or g13ba ? If it was a ba would that be stamped on the back of the block ?

Are you looking at the engine number or just the engine block casting?

The casting will say G13A 1324cc or G13B 1298cc
The actual G13ba will be stamped in the engine number.

If its a g13b sohc swift motor there is a good chance you might have to use the camshaft from the sierra so you can use the sierra right angle dizzy to clear the firewall :D

if it came out of a sierra it will bolt in, as mentioned before you will probably need to swap around some parts from your other engine. They will be interchangible. Things like your fuel cut solanoid etc.

I have Put a G13bA SIERRA motor in a G13a enginebay ( and also briefly the opposite which is technically illegal from pollution standpoint)
The differences externally are trivial. G13b blocks have additional mounting points for oem equipment and provisions for a knock sensor. Unless you have them stripped side by side you be hard press to spot the diffrences. Which reminfds me a G13A crank does fit inside a g13ba block and the rods appear the same size according to my calipers at time.

G13BA/B SWIFT 8v motors are a little different, they have thinner rods i guess to make them peppier.

Things you will need to swap over from your old motor
Carb + Intake
I'd have to check but positive the thermostat housing is wrong side, the sierra carb is better if set up correctly
Water Pump metal pipe
Swift one is neeedlessly long and comes out the back, the stubby sierra one is neater. If your old sierra one is corroded which is common you can cut the tail of the sierra one and well it to a shorten swift pipe.
Waterpump/ Radiator fan
Either wire up an electric fan or replace the pump with a sierra one as the pulleys are different so you cant use the sierra radiator fan. If you change waterpump you need to use the sierra pulleys and alternator or track down a vitara multirib waterpump pulley
Sump/Oil pick up
Transfer from sierra motor
Camshaft + Dizzy
Transfer from sierra. Some swift camshaft pulleys have two positions. Take note of which it is. One will be I the other E, the other position will advance your timing if you are interested in messing with that check in Teamswift.net.

Thats all i can think of for now, someone else might be able to chime in.

ha missed one of your other posts. For a timing belt i would pop the timing cover off. If its for square blocky teeth get G13A timing belt. If the teeth are round go for a g13ba swift belt.

Almost all the other parts will interchange. If you are getting a new pump get one that is advertised for sierra & if you are getting a carby kit get one from India advertised for 1.3l maruti/samurai/sierra. Most complete kits i found so far as they include new jets, manual idle adjustment screw and extra washers unlike fuelmiser ones.

Thanks santos ..... Brilliant info ... Thank u for taking the time.... The engine came out of a 98 sierra so it should be a basic straight swap .... I just thought i would put a new timming belt in and a rear seal in while its out . Engine come complete with the carbie attached ... Hopefully my extractors will bolt straight on ... I think they should .it was pulled out of the 98 for a larger engine swap ...TheRmo stat on the correct side ... So im thinking g13ba blocks are still stamped g13b ... I find this confusing .

As far as I know the G13B, BA & BB blocks are the same casting - all three have the raised G13B in the casting - the only difference is the engine number prefix.

I cleaned dien the engine block and under 18 years of crud i found the back engine number and the g13ba stamp .... The timing cover has an inspection gromet and i can see it appears to have a round tooth timming belt.
