URGENTLY NEED HELP.
I have bought a SJ51T, with a DOHC G13B in it. Just need to know if anyone in South Australia has got a GTI sierra, and if they've got it complied, does it state that its a high powered vehicle? Should say it if you check your rego, could be wrong
I cannot drive a high-powered vehicle on my Ps, that's why I need to know. Cheers.

Cheers Steve. I have already researched the heck out of it and rang the Department of Transport and Infrastructure earlier, and he said the same thing
Was hoping to get knowledge from someone who has the conversion in SA

Nor can you drive a car with extractors, and ALL g13B sierras have extractors as there is no cast manifold for the job. Thankfully, here is nowhere near as bad as Facebook, where you'll get 485648599674646 people telling you "nah, you'll be right just drive it" etcetcetc I am confused: An alternative engine may be fitted to replace one that is no longer serviceable or to achieve an increase in capacity, power and torque. Vehicles may be fitted with extractors provided that any emission control devices which were originally fitted to the original manufacturer's exhaust system, including catalytic converters, are re-connected and operational.

You've heard the offical line from more than one source. It's up to you whether you're willing to take the risk.

Claytox, there are two seperate issue here. One is getting a modified car complianced, Two, being legally permitted to drive a modified car on P plates.
The first issue will be fairly straight forward. Take it to Regency and get the paperwork and inspection.
The second issue is the problem. There is no way around it until you are off your P plates. You are not legally able to drive a modified car particularly one that has had its kilowatts doubled.
A close relative of mine is an SA police officer. He has confirmed with me that P platers are under much higher scrutiny on the road than full licensed drivers. So the chances of you being pulled over and your car roadside inspected is very much higher than the rest of the fully licensed drivers on the road.

Look at it from another angle, you may get away driving it for months, or you may get envolved in a prang with another vehicle and someone else is hurt , wether you are at fault or not the fact your driving a "performance" vehicle drops you deep in a whole new level of shit

I'm a bit puzzled by this thread. You've clearly made a mistake by buying a car that needs approval and you can't legally drive on your current licence. The law on this is very clear. Are you now trying to find someone to tell you what you want to hear, that it will be just fine?
As has been said many times. The risk is all yours. The only legal and responsible advice has already been given. It won't change.

Dlrowmas, i have considered that aspect and thats why i dont really want to just drive it without compliance
Steve, as easlier stated, I was hoping for someone in SA who had theirs complied to tell me, as first hand experience is best if you ask me I think that its all a bit mumbo jumbo and a matter of luck, remembering that SA is very much like that with most laws, haha
Thankyou for your inputs.

There's absolutely no "mumbo jumbo" - those two Government sites are completely, 100% crystal clear. You can't drive a GTi engine sierra, and you can't drive a car with increased power over standard.
The "mumbo jumbo" is coming from the "first hand experience" telling you you'll be OK, or nobody will notice, or it doesn't need certification. Th more you listen to the "first hand experience" and ignore the facts from the Government, the more confused you'll get.
Many people drive around in cars that aren't, but should be engineered. Many P platers drive cars that they aren't permitted to drive.
