Ok, to body lift or not to body lift?
That is the question.
I have a 92 LWB vitara. 2 inch dobinsns lift, rear air locker, 29 inch grabber at's on sunnys.
It has no bar work at the moment. I have a arb bar sitting in my shed waiting for me to make up my mind.
I need to decide pretty soon whether to body lift or not, Whilst Im not 100% sure that I will go much bigger tyres than what I have at the moment. These do scrub a bit on flexy tracks. (Maybe if i do cape york Id want them, generally the lil vit does well on the simple 4wding i have done so far.)
I do realise that bigger tyres will mean more problem/gearing but it should stop the ones on there at the moment from scrubbing, maybe give it a little more flex. Plus look taller. Win haha.
So help me take the next step in modding my car should I do it or not, its holding up the bar work on here.
Itd be 2 inchs max to keep legal with sa law. Pros and cons please.

May want to recheck the SA laws... 2inch over all max, either from bigger tyres, body lift or spring lift.... Though they defect patrols don't really target vitaras.
Body lift is plenty easy enough , but it's all the small little things that go with it to make it look neat, and in reality you can get a fit with mild mods pretty much anywhere you need to in SA....either with a few chicken tracks or rock packing.....
I'm sure gaurd folding, massaging or bump stops would be much better....
Once you go a body lift your going to have to run 30/31s anyway to fill the guards....which means gearing, and fuel issues.....

Won't give much more flex. Keep it low more stable and not as dodgy.... Gard trim and bumpstop best way to go

You need to look very carefully at where the tyres scrub. My guess is the body lift won't eradicate the scrubbing, because where the tyre scrub is is most likely on a vertical (or close to vertical) surface.
Body lift makes zero difference to flex. 29's couldn't possibly be scrubbing badly enough to limit flex noticeably.
The purpose of body lift is 100% to improve clearance for bigger tyres. I don't think the terrain in SA warrants tyres bigger than 29's on a vitara or the problems they add.
Steve.
