Up for some suggestions, ideas, knows.. Just Picked up an LJ50, and this one is good enough to restore, lot of surface rust and 3(hopefully no more) patches to cut and patch. However won't be at a stage or any time soon to start work on it, so I will be storing it in shed for couple years(may give me some time also to source parts I need). Just after as much advice to minimizing rust spread as I have heard people say the cars have rusted quicker stored in shed after been outside(true or not). Will be giving it a real good blast with karcher and then........Cheers for any help.

Rust treat every bit of rust you can find before you store it and then say every 12 months have a look and rust treat any new patches

Give it a good gernie, let it dry for a day then put some rust converter in a plastic spray bottle and give it a good spray everywhere there is rust and in every nook and cranny you can find. make sure you get ALL the mud out of the hard to get to places so the rust converter can get to the metal and not just get soaked up by the mud...

Lanotec is also good. Protects well but it's not UV proof.
Best of all it's easy to wash off when you're ready to do the restoration

R10 is pretty good stuff, non toxic and works best on a damp surface.
Available in 1 litre pump pack. [Supercheap]
Don't get it on your skin or in eyes, although non toxic it will stain anything it touches.

PENETROL - available in spray cans and 500ml tins, maybe larger containers too - bigger is cheaper! [Bunnings or any decent paint shop]

Quick instructions:

Hit zook with gurny, drown nooks and crannys and rusty bits in R10 [Supercheap], leave to do it's stuff for a day or so - converts rust into good stable stuff.

Brush or spray on "PENETROL" [Bunnings or any decent paint shop]
This stuff creeps into seams, and seals the surfaces / can be painted over and even mixed in paint.
A couple of spray cans and a 500ml tin "should" be enough to do a zook - but be prepared to buy more if needed.
[not sure - but a spray can nozzle might take an extension tube which would be a good idea for hard to reach bits]

After doing this it will be about as stable as you can get, only better option is to replace your zook with stainless steel and fibreglass.

Do a google on R10 and PENETROL so you have an better understanding of how they work and what they are both capable of doing.
