Hey guys does any one do a reduced loom for a coil pack baleno conversion? im doing one for a mate atm and its doing my head in, the wiring that came with it is a mess, i reduced the loom and i cant figure it out, when power is hooked up, the ecu turns on, the fuel pump turns no solid (no timer off) and the injectors run at 100%... i have double checked the wring and everything appears to be right accordig to Pjzooks instructions.
we now have another loom/ecu that we got cheap but im not overly keen to hack into it and remove the million plugs any ideas?

Check the relays The G (ecu trigger earth from relay) The Y/Bl (ecu trigger earth from relay). Check and the R/B, and W wires, also see if they have been joined somewhere Check the few earths
Has the engine loom been molested?
Or
Start from scratch
Keep the entire baleno engine loom (the ecu plug, and blug plue). I use the alt and starter wires etc too, no cutting and joining of any wires, so it's all plug and play, and easily replaced off the shelf. I changed the loom taping/covering slightly, to adjust the position of the air temp sensor, so i can use a fancy intake pipe from megazip.
I strip out all the excess crap from the sierra loom.
Auto looms are a lot more work to clean up, I have a manual loom and auto. I kept my auto loom plug and play, so I can try the baleno auto controller on the vit transmission.
As long as the earths are connected and B/R and B/Y are bridged it will start and run without any other mods, auto controller connected or not.
The other ecu plug and blue plug (dash side) are the only two plugs you need to change/modify I relocated the diag terminals and put them under the dash too.
The rest is simple, as there's only a handful of wires to join to the sierra loom, and only a handful of wires to connect to relocate a lot of baleno stuff.
Just carefully strip and label, you shouldn't even need a diagram.

Ok so i have been over the current wiring 3x now as soon as you hook up power to the IGN circut on the ecu, it turns on the efi relay and the fuel pump relay, and thats it, it dosent purge and switch off, just holds the fuel pump on it also holds the injectors full open. is this a falt with the ecu? im fairly not keen to hook up the new ecu as i dont wish to fry it if thats the problem

Normally $350 if u supply tape and black flexy conduit but i only do it for the main type of baleno ecu, there are 3 different ones. Even with a template it still takes a good 3-4hrs. Can do for less if the loom comes stripped of all tape and coverings.

You don't have the y/b start wire hooked up to ign do you? I know That keeps the pump running.

Just got my loom looking like that. Felt good after many hours fiddling and fault finding.

Yeah id happily pay you to do my one If i go efi in the ute. so the new loom we got is one with the coil packs on the back of the head not the rocker covers ones.
can i just swap the plugs? as in solder the rocker cover coil plugs onto the loom for the rear ones?

Ooo not sure ive hardly seen them in wa. If the ecu isnt same as mine then my loom be no good to u as pinouts would be different. If ecu is the same be safe to assume u can just lengthen the wires

The coils on the back of the head are 4pin plugs. I'm not sure what the difference is with the extra wires.
There's not much to join from the engine harness side to the ecu, sounds like something is mixed up in the fuse/power/ecu side
From memory I have had my starter wire connected to the ecu, and not connected, Didn't make a difference.

After a bit of cross referencing etc, it seems most of the wires/pinouts are the same colour. I'm about to start doing my loom after I finish Jayses 16b + auto conversion hopefully tomorrow night.

Haven't checked that far, I just went through and made sure the coilpack side was close and the injector feeds were close. Usually I don't use the donor loom side of the start wires anyway, I use the sierra side as it's all there and already connected to the barrell.

Yeah i just hook the baleno ignition wire to the white and black (from memory) sierra ignition, retaining the baleno fuse box isnt ideal but its already got all the fuel pump feeds and powers straight from there, i just tuck it up behind the glovebox and mount the ecu to the top inside the glovebox with a cutout for the plugs

Just make sure u got the black and orange earth on the engine loom connected for the injector earth. Normally pops out where the clutch cable comes out the firewall, i just take out one of the 10mm bolts holding the cable on and connect to that otherwise no injector pulse

There is also a redundant plug with yellow on it in that same area, dont stress if its not connected

Legends. it starts and runs! i still need to clean up the wiring loom as i have the whole baleno loom on the passengers side seat/floor. i had to run a new Power feed from the battery to the fuse box, so i used an old chinese winch earth wire, fitted in nice.
the models with the 2x coil packs behind the head have the same wire colors etc, just extended and added the right plugs for the one on's on the rocker cover.
now back to it. few more hours and it can go back to its owner! thanks for the help lads

Awesome man, thanks for the info on the wiring too, I'm actually going to mount the coils on the firewall away from the engine, just to get away from the heat. After owning Nissan imports I know the hassles that come with coils cracking and earthing.

BlueSuzy wrote: From memory I have had my starter wire connected to the ecu, and not connected, Didn't make a difference. More likely you didn't notice the difference. The start signal not being connected to the ECU will not prevent the engine from starting or running, if connected it will however make the engine easier to start in cold weather (retards the timing & enriches the mixture whilst cranking) and the most noticeable difference is that it is one of two signals that activates an "unflood" mechanism - if the ECU senses WOT (wide open throttle) and crank simultaneously it kills injection - this allows you to hold the throttle open and crank the engine to clear excess fuel if the engine will not start because it has been flooded.
