Long story short I did the front end on my car had to take off alot of parts, tried replacing the compressor but bracket didnt match and trying to rush i undid the power steering line i cant remember what sort of connection it was but somehow it just seeps through even when cars parked with the engine off its just dripping constantly now i did try to tighten it real hard to stop the leak but it did not help at all, do I have to buy http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Steering-Pum ... 2045528955
or could it be the p/s line being over tightened and need a new one of them or could i just put some gasket maker around the whole thing and it should stay in just use some tape too? or even to delay it if its a costly repair, appreciate any help/tips, I did pick up some stop-leak p/s fluid I'm gonna try before my next drive as someone swears by it.

Which hose is it leaking from? High or low pressure line?

If HP line, it could be missing the copper washers

Low I think seals with an o-ring or RTV.

Not sure which is which id assume the top is the low, its the one going from the p/s fluid container to the actual pump, i took off the fitting and noticed there is no o-rings there (i could be missing one as i took it off and it could of fallen down, please let me know if thats the case) I put some red RTV around the fitting and will update if it fixes it (I have my doubts), if there is an o-ring could someone please post the size so I can source one if the RTV doesn't do the job?

Update:
Tried red rtv under the fitting (the high temp thermostat gasket maker) leak continued, applied more around the fitting and noticed the thread is actually stripped and the bolt is spinning in one spot so i just rtv'd the whole bolt and around it and around the whole fitting so its just a massive gasket that ill get off with a wire brush if i need to but the leak keeps on seeping a tiny bit and I have no other ideas, I dont wanna get a new pump just because the thread is screwed and I need it to be leak proof for at least a month until I go on holiday as I have no budget for a new pump

Hi, I was informed I could fix the thread by using a permatex stripped thread repair kit 81668 but every shop I've contacted so far no longer stocks it, does anyone know where I can get a hold of some? its a tiny plastic applicant for the bolt (release agent) and 2 needles you mix to make the compound you put into the thread, I really need to fix this rather than getting a new p/s pump

There's a couple of different fittings. Regardless, If the thread is stripped in the steering box, I think it's time for a new box.
Luckily, they're cheap.

However, if its the low pressure side (which it sounds like it is) you might be able to come up with a solution with a sealant. Even JB weld would work.

Is steering reallllllly something you want to be doing a bodgy fix on though?

To be fair, worst case scenario is loss of assistance at speed, which, if anything, would make the steering feel better, not worse.
