ok could somebody shed some light on this as I cant make heads or tails out of it.
My vehicle plate has the engine as a G13BA, but after pulling the engine for a rebuild the block has cast into the back of it G13B what is the difference ???????
@jdk81 - I beg to differ - I have in my possession a G13B engine which is an SOHC 8V carbureted engine, it is still in the Swift GLX hatch that it left the factory in and I have owned that vehicle from new, so I know it's the original engine - I've worked on a couple more of these GLX hatches, so I know it is not unusual for them to have G13B engines - I also have in my possession a second G13B block which is from a DOHC GTi, but the GTi can also have other engines, for example I've seen at least one G13K - these engine number designations are not "cast in stone".
@Eric - in my experience, all the 1298cc engines will have G13B cast into the block in raised type - check the engine number stamped into the flange - the b, ba, bb, etc. designations originate from the engine number prefix - if it's the original engine, it will correspond to what is on the documentation and it will probably have a G13ba prefix - G13ba-nnnnnnnn
