Seriously though - once your belt locks, and you get out to walk the track, how the fuck do you unlock it in order to be able to wear it again in order to continue your line without reversing back to flat ground??

^bread bag clips, Zip ties, electrical tape, thats what we use to stop it retracting

I use a cereal packet clamp, It will eventually break so i might get one off here somewhere.

Other option is converting to non retract belts but may effect Adr's and they suck for every day use, jamming in door etc.

Went for a wheel on Christmas Eve. Found a nice solution that worked great. I just put on the belt, but the strap that normally goes over your shoulder I just put behind my back.

What are peoples opinions on doing this?

Well you would stay in the seat but could break your face on the steering wheel.

I always wear one I think it's more important in the bush then on the roads

After going over a few times you never know when it's going to happen! A mate I always used to have to tell him to put his seat belt on one day he was in with me when we went over and I havnt had to tell him sence haha

I allways wear one now. I used to be a strong advocate against wearing one. Have seen several accident's where people had survived, by not wearing one, and some where people have died from wearing one. Even had a friend who survived a highspeed impact by not wearing one. Then one day my father, who never wore one, died from a very low speed impact, less than 20km/h. Apperently the steering wheel hit him in the stomac, and clipped the main artery, that runs along the spine. He blead out internally and was gone in a couple of minuttes. This made me change my attitude.
I very much understand where you are coming from bumstein. However everybody in my truck get's to wear a seatbelt, or they don't get to ride

I have driven on sand tracks on the beach without a belt and haven't done anything crazy, but anything else I just find it a natural habit to wear my seat belt entering any vehical whether it be a forklift, 4wd and even being a passenger. I have to admit, yes, it locks when you are on a steep incline and the need to get out is there to see how to work the rest of the track but trying to get it back out when you get in is where I can't physically use it. Thus exposing me to certain dangers if I roll. I will have to find a way to keep it in the 'Taught' position so I can get back into it when I drive off. Looking out the window at the position of your wheel is not possible when locked and that is very annoying but I deal with it for safety. I wouldn't mind a 5point harness though but might be too restraining for general 4wdriving.

Well and truely correct on all accounts!!

I've seen high speed rollovers where everyone wear a seatbelt is dead. Everyone not wearing a seatbelt is (relatively) ok.

Seat belts do not guarantee survival and can in fact cause harm. HOWEVER in mast cases they minimise harm so the sensible thing to do is wear one.

Yes, people can survive against all odds in situations where you think it's impossible that someone could walk away from. Other times the smallest gender bender can be devastating! Sorry to hear about your father .

I never really used to wear a belt when I was off road, but after some unexpected layovers that soon changed pretty quickly! Nothing like having a car try and rape you or your passenger land on you and leave some pretty good marks.

Lots of beer is needed to forget these things and now the seatbelt rule is enforced pretty heavily and follows over into the bobcat or just about anything I drive that has a belt.

I do miss the 1ltr belts! You could strap in really well
