Hi guys been getting out into some steeper stuff with the Jimny over the break. I don't like the way it tends to run away downhill in low range locked in 1st gear. If the hill isn't to steep it runs down ok but I'm constantly riding the breaks on steeper hills. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the small motor of the Jimny doesn't have enough compression to slow it right down.
It's less the small motor and more the tall gearing*. If your interested in more technical/steeper driving you'll soon be looking to lower the low range gearing. Especially if it's an auto- steep climbing will heat the auto right up.
*My sierra had ample engine braking with just a 660cc motor. This is because first gear low range was something like 127:1, so something like four times lower than your current gearing.

Driving an auto. It's got standard 15 rims and 205/75 tyres on. Wondering if maybe it isn't locking into low range properly or there's something wrong. It's a 2001 Jimny auto. So just thought I'd ask if other people have had similar issues.
