I have been searching here for threads on the sloppy gear lever, I had to change the bush and bolt in my sierra awhile back, I got the bush for that from ebay, some mob in Melbourne or Sydney I think, but I cant find any sign of bushes on ebay now? Who is best to source the bushes from? I will do the transfer stick bush too.... if I can find them....

Any links to threads on the subject would be handy too .... knowing the 98 2.0 it will be completely different from any other Vitara.... on these nuthin' is the same as nuthin' else ... :deadhorse:

It is a pita at the moment, can only get first, third and fifth.... there is not enough room for the stick to go back far enough to get the other gears (body lift),,,

Around Briz north or Sunny Coast would be handy :)

Unfortunately ive never seen aftermarket bushes for these , se416 and sv620 share the same parts as far as the gear lever system goes.

the suzuki part numbers for the 2 bushes for the gear lever are 28117-60A00 and 25551-60A02.

Ive seen this quite a lot ... quite often when the gear lever is removed the bottom bushing falls off the gear lever and into the housing , not in its seat. ive even heard of complaints of "sloppy lever and cant get it into 3rd gear etc" because the bush is jamming the select rod. Take the lever out and fish around in the housing to see if its in there somewhere.

Thanks Losfer, I ordered those parts and they will have them in for me on Monday. I don't suppose you have the part number for the transfer case lever bush?

Also, do I need to get guide bolt(s) like on the sierra, they have the bolt that goes into the slot on the ball of the lever thru the side of the ball socket, to stop the gear lever rotating?
