Can Anyone provide feedback for these on a 98-04 GV? I've seen one issue Suzuki-forum with the rear facing one sucking water. Also where can you buy them? http://www.fts4x4.com/en/products/?meth ... ng&sid=185I can't find any other brands for this model. Before and after models are available .

I have one of the fts snorkels on my 98 GV (the std front facing one). Works fine for a tube that places the air intake up high. Easy to fit.
Got mine through jimnybits when I ordered a stack of other parts, but have bought direct from fts before for other bits and their service was awesome and quick postage (email ordered and paypal paid).

Go back to the Suzuki forums and do an advanced search for user "bigbamboo" - he has two posts on snorkels - one of them details his experiences with the forward facing FTS snorkel - I don't think he was too impressed with it. His other post on snorkels is a "for sale" in the classifieds - the first snorkel he bought was, I believe a "knock off" copy of a Safari - I bought it from him - based on his statement that it was intended for a 2nd gen, but based on the template, I'm fairly certain that it's actually for a 1st gen with the air box on the right side, I'm guessing an SE with a diesel engine - it's probably also useable with an SV if you modify the "plumbing" to suit - he and I did exchange PMs about the FTS in which he expressed doubts about it's durability. I've been discussing fitting it to my SQ with a couple of people (it has been done before by at least one guy in the UK - Dave from Bits4Vits) and my bodywork guy thinks he can do it - it will involve building up the underside of the section that fits along the wing to match the profile but the angle and fit along the windscreen pillar is good - the project is on hold pending acquisition of "intercooler" type plumbing to mate it with the airbox - IF it does get fitted, it won't happen till mid year - there's an IF there because I may pass it on to my nephew who has an SV620, on which it might be a better fit. The URL below is an example of what I ended up with - you'll find them all over ebay - different suppliers, and advertised as fitting different versions of the Vitara/Grand Vitara. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SNORKEL-KIT-Fits-SUZUKI-VITARA-SIDEKICK-GEO-TRACKER-RHS-91-97-H20A-V6-G16B-/262335968991?hash=item3d147136df:g:6yQAAOSw4DJYhAz0

It's not a GV, it's a Tracker - but let me ask you this - what was it you wanted - a review of the FTS snorkel for the 98~05 Grand Vitara - does the vehicle he fitted it to make a difference to what he says?
For what it's worth - as far as fitting a snorkel goes - the biggest difference between his Tracker and your Grand Vitara is the plastic trim that your car has.

No, not really what I wanted. One post showing how he installed it. There is nothing about the long term performance or longer term quality. This is what I want to know before cutting holes in my car.
I understand the quality will be less than great but I can't find any alternative suppliers. My other concern is that one person who bought one had water flooding the air cleaner and they still sell it.

I had a GIZ international one on my old 03 gv, fitted it myself. Its pretty much the same as the fts one. It held up well. Did some water crossings in kakadu that had bow waves at bonnet level and never had an issue.

I can't comment on the quality of the snorkel but I did meet the people who run fts in Taiwan last year, they are awesome to deal with.

I'd like to get the rear facing one. Has anyone used that one?

Anyone running the fts snorkel check your rubber hose between the snorkel and air box. I got a second hand one, don't know how old but the flexible rubber hose has about 5 splits in it.
