Hey everyone, from what i seem to have found is that the G16A 8v is Carby,
Correct, all carby cars are G16A

G16A 16v is TBI
False. There are G16A MPFI and G16A TBI. No TBI engines were used in Australian delivered vitaras, so G16A or B EFI engines will all be MPFI. Note that to confirm whether an engine is G16A or B you'l'l have to check the engine number. All G16B engines still had "G16A" cast on the right hand rear of the block.

G16B 16v is EFI, is that correct?
All G16B motors locally are MPFI.

Are manifolds, cams, pistons etc interchangeable between the G16A/B 16v or are they completely different heads?
Same, however, G16A 16V engines have a different camshaft belt tooth profile.

I've read that the G16A 8v is a completely different head setup (non interchangeable parts with the 16v, water jackets etc)
.
Correct. You CAN swap the 16V head onto any G16 bottom end if you're keen to spend lots of time making an interference motor.

Seen heaps of info on the G16B vs G16A 8v but don't seem to see much in the way of the G16A 16v. But have seen HEAPS of threads on other forums about the G16A 16v in swifts overseas, the G series engines are interchangeable between transverse and longitudinal aren't they? I imagine they would have the same bellhousing bolt pattern (eg. GTi G13B Twincam into sierra)
Yes, all G16's have the same bell housing pattern, just as all G13's have the same pattern. Note the G13 and G16 have different patterns, but adapters are available to go either way. Yes, with appropriate trim, you can swap any transverse G motor to longitudinal. This may or may not be a hassle. (for instance, Distributor swift G16's require a cam swap, Transverse G16's have the top radiator hose outlet at the back of the head which can be both bad and good.
