Vehicle: Suzuki Grand Vitara 04 manual

Ok so here is the summary.

1. I played with electronics that I should not have. Removed the engine fuse within 90 sec of turning off the ignition. (This is in the workshop manual first couple of pages).
2. Resulted in triggering the immobilizer into thinking someone was trying to steal the car. Error code P1620 and locked my ECM.
3. Tried to get Suzuki dealer to re-code. They couldn't and advised I needed a new immobilizer. They quoted $1000 fitted for a new immobilizer but could not guarantee this would work. I got a price for the immobilizer within Australia at about $550. $200 cheaper than Suzuki wanted to charge.
4. I took the car back from Suzuki as they could not guarantee a fix after spending $1000 ($800 if I supplied the part) as quoted.
5. Discussed the problem with Rhinoman who advise he could fix it. He was the only person outside Suzuki I could find who has access and equipment to re-code these parts.
6. As I had now learnt my lesson with touching things I'm not capable off or don't understand, I engaged Losfer to remove the ECM and immobilizer (which in my model is also the areal). After tampering/repairing any of these parts you need them all together to re-code them so they are all in sync.
7. I sent all the parts to Rhinoman in the UK. He discovered that there seemed to be some sort of fault in the immobilizer, a corrupted memory chip, each time he replaced them they kept blowing. He was great and went to far greater lengths than I would expect of anyone to get the parts working again. Yes he charged me but I was happy to pay as it was a far better alternative than forking out $1000 then not knowing if it would work. We were making progress.
8. While he was at it I got him to make me a new spare key. This had to be coded at the same time as all teh other gear. Rhinoman repaired the immobilizer, re-coded the lot and sent it back.
9. Losfer reinstalled the gear and I was up and running.

I was lucky enough to be able to manage without my car (JUST!) while it was repaired. Suzuki would have got the car running by replacing the immobilizer but it would have cost me a lot more. Also who knows if they would have done it all correctly. I have no confidence in dealers and wouldn't be surprised if they broke something else in the process or tried to charge me for something else and they would have had me by the balls(codes).

I really hope this helps someone else in future.

The lesson, know when to get professional help (I don't count Suzuki dealers as professionals).

Thanks for the update.

Was there some other problem initially that caused you to start looking at fuel pump relay in first place ?
