Hey guys, getting a set of 33s soonish and I'm tossing up between the 33x10.5 km2s and 33x12.5 claws.
Anyone with experience with either feel free to comment on how they go in different terrains (mud, rock, road)
Also looking for general pros and cons of skinny tyres vs wide tyres.

Narrower the better.

A lot of the guys are swinging over to 16" rims to go even skinnier!

I am considering Federal Couragia in a 235/85R16 size for a 413 . Anyone run this size tyre ? Would be interested in comments .

Based on my personal experiance rocks/crawling ive found the wider tyres offer better traction and narrower tyres for sand and trails.
I have run 235/85r16 in summit mud hog and hankook mt and find them a good all rounder and quiet on road compared to 32x11.5r15s ive had

I ran 34 10.5 for years!

Now running 31 9.5 and the difference is unbelievable! I seriously think it's more capable on the 31s.... not sure why I spent spent so much to get it reliable on the 34s

Yeah if the choice is kn2 vs claws it bfg all the way. I run 10.5s and they are plenty wide enough

I'd struggle to think of a worse tyre for a sierra than a 33 12.5 Baja Claw.
33 10.5 BFG's work very well on a sierra.
I desperately want someone to pony up and run 35 10.5 KR2 race bfg's on a sierra. I can't think of a better tyre.

Wide tyres mostly suck on Sierras. Take this from a guy running 35 13.5's.

They do- but for a 16" rim. (235 85 16, 265 75 16)

The 15" sizes are nearly all versions of the old floatation sizing "10r" "12r" etc which became popular in Southern California in the 1970's and the 4wd world has been dealing with it ever since

Can get a wide variety of 31x10.5 or 33x10.5, but the 32 is missed ... gotta go straight to 11.5.

The 235/85 16s are high ply-rated. ... although at least on a zook a puncture won't matter much ....

IIRC you can get a form of super swamper in 32*9.5.

This was going to be my next tire.

Fair call guys, I've always been planning on running the km2s but seen some good performance from the mickeys up here

all the times ive seen claws used they had super shit lateral grip. JR zook uses and loves km2s on lilfoot up in cairns area

I am happy with KM2s as well. Dry season they are pretty good and don't seem to get sidewall damage, wet season they go well enough in sloppy silt shit and grip
well on clay and black soil while working pretty well in monsoon rain on highways. I am on my second set and will prob buy again.
Another thing I am pretty bad for airing down unless really needed and they don't chip apart like most tyres do on rocky roads

It's 33.5" tall ... but is it "skinny" enough??

It looks like a better option than 33"x10.5

They are a smidge narrower than the 33x10.5, 14mm bigger diam, but load rating is a fair bit more.

They work very well but there is less rim availability at helpful offsets and beadlocks and the load rating is a bit of an issue. 255 85 is an awesome sierra size though, no doubt. Couple of cars in our club running them.

Yeah .. I'm referring to a tyre that's usable outside of the swamps. That stuff is great in their place, but then ya gotta go home again ... unless of course they're on a trailer queen.
