Question to Baleno (coilpack) into Sierra builders;
Is there a good thread here on AZ or elsewhere that deals comprehensively with the wiring challenge?
Still hunting and hoping to find a good resource with most of the information all in the one place .

There is about 3 or 4 variations of baleno wiring dont take the pj zook one as being correct for your motor.

Good to know Mr Rocky, hopefully mine is the same as PJ zook's guide but I'll cross check some of the wire colours.
Are there many variations between models?

I'm almost done getting the harness out of the Baleno donor now.
I'm using Gwagensteve's approach by removing the entire harness and labelling all connectors.

So far I've got the fuel pump, engine, instrument cluster, and soon I'll have the harness.
Is there anything else I would need?
I think that must be it.
I'll have to get the Baleno towed for scrap shortly as I can't block up my parent's driveway too much longer.

Grab the fuse box, peel back tha front guards and make sure you get the entire loom not just half. Dont forget the ecu.

The first one i did took me about 2 weeks haha i nearly swapped the 1ltr back in. Once u start hacking stuff if you dont know what your doing theres not alot anyone can do to help you.
Just an observation from some of your other posts regarding engine removal ect... tackling the harness might be a little beyond novice capability, not many guys will touch a harness once its been messed with.

Haha, thanks Steve, and point taken Mr Rocky I won't start stripping away stuff too soon.
I'm wondering if it's practical to leave the harness fully intact, install it into the Sierra, get the 1.6 up and running and then start removing wires?
It would be a safer way to go, but I'd imagine once the harness has been pushed through the Sierra firewall it will make it hard to strip the unneeded wires.
So long as my labelling is correct I should be OK to strip it first and save a bit of time.

It's a different part number to what BenT specifies (M1T72481 or 31100-60A20) but as far as I can tell it's exactly the same.
I bought it from Trump starter importers in Thomastown via Ebay. Only $121.00 incl. postage, so not a bad deal I reckon.

Ive got a template i use for the baleno wiring harnesses and it still takes 4hrs or so of chopping. I have seen the whole harness used before, its a big ask to cram behind the sierra dash, common practice is to do it prior to installation.
You wind up with a few optional wires when stripping it back like headlight idle up, thermo fan signal, tacho, ect...

Finally labelled and removed the harness, along with the fuse box, ECU, steering column, etc.
Along with the engine, instrument cluster, fuel pump, and it's associated wires I think that must be it.
