So on this forum and others thousands of photos posted over the years are disappearing and being replaced with a note from Photobucket which is basically saying that if you do not pay Photobucket $400-500 a year to continue to use them as a photo hosting site for your pics they will replace every photo you have ever posted anywhere with their " note" ... So I for one will not bother using them anymore and I am on the hunt for another hosting site.. Any suggestions would be appreciated.. Cheers..

I went with smugmug based on recommendations from others on here. I wasn't using PB for anything professional, only forum stuff, but that looks quite feasible with smugmug.
its a few bucks a month but it's much much nicer to use than Photofarkedit.
Make sure you delete your PB account. It provides you with the opportunity to vent at their stupidity.
Obviously you'll still need to fix any threads you want to restore to their former glory.

Only trouble is they don't actually delete your account once you close it. Mine is still active weeks after I told them to shove it.
I guess they it helps them get more advertisers if they can claim they still have all of these active accounts, even if the users have told them to to stick their ransom demands.

Meh, I'm not going to close my account. I'll leave it there so if people really want to find what I've posted they have half a chance. Photobucket's going to die anyway, I don't care about telling them they're idiots.
I was thinking of going with google/microsoft ect photos because they're more likely to be here long term.

I was directed to Imgur and it works, if you can stand others making weird comments on public pics. Just be like me only put on the basics and don't look at the comments.

FWIW I've been using google photos. Most people with android phones will already have an album (my S5 auto uploaded to it when it was new). You have to right click, copy image link, they don't supply an image link. I'm much more confident in google sticking around.
For threads where I really want to see the (photobucket) photos I've been going right click, open image in new tab, waiting for the ad blocker bullshit then hitting refresh and the picture comes up for half a second before the ad blocker bullshit comes up so I've been screen shotting it. It's worked for 95% of photos, I figure the ones that don't work are people who have deleted their accounts.

While I am not suggesting that Google Photos is going anywhere, make no mistake: they have closed down a hundred or so services to this point. I have personally been stung by a few, in fact: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_G ... d_services

I tried smugmug and dont regret it.
I had no idea image uploads could be so fast and easy to do after using Photobucket.
