Has any one used head light replacement units like this? I'd rather replace my lights with better ones that I can use all the time rather than spend the same/similar amount on bars or spots that I can only use off-road. I don't of road at night setup wasn't better road lighting performance.

The halo is cool but I'm more interested in a better light, hid or xenon. Apparently both illegal in qld unless auto leveling.

Better off fitting good globes and decent driving lights, last thing anyone needs is a stupid low beam dazzling everyone.
I could never understand why people want to blind the car heading towards them at 130kph.

This doesn't make sense to me. I just want better lights for driving on the road as the stock ones are pretty bad.

Fuck I hate those lights.
Had a guy in a new Colorado following me with his super cool angry eyes, the low beams where lighting me up like day time. Turned all my mirrors out so it wasn't piercing through my retinas, but it was still giving me a headache. Had to slow and let him pass so he could blind the next guy.

I hate being dazzled too. Are they not designed with any control over the direction. Most people just don't adjust the beam angle when they raise their car or carry a load.

Most of these lights do not produce more light output. The vast majority are not designed for RHD application which is why they dazzle incoming drivers.

These units are generally a cosmetic upgrade only.

IMO nearly all new dual cab utes now have such high headlights on them that they dazzle oncoming traffic.

Karma can be a beauty at times, a few years back I was carting my kid sister and her (annoying and very whiney) friends to a party.

The car behind us had projector type headlights either badly adjusted, or with a boot load of lead - as it was like I was towing an anti-aircraft searchlight behind me.

After a few minutes one of the whiniest girls dragged a ruddy great mirror out of her handbag turned around in her seat (giving me a great view of her rump in my rear view mirror) , and reflected the cars headlights back into it's drivers eyes.

Search the forum for "brighteyes" - I don't think Royce does them any more, but you should be able to find enough detail to grasp the concept and there may even be a diagram or two.

The diagram provided does not show fuses - either use fused relays or wire individual fuses in the feed to the relays.

So it's just larger gauge wire. I don't have spot lights and I hate electronics so I'm not going to try that. I've seen kits that do the same thing. Plug and play.

Depending on the kit/design it also cuts out a lot of length and subsequent voltage drop. I think it was the vit of gv (or both?) stock looms that had the standard wiring going into the cab and back out again for some reason.

If you are night driving in the country then nothing beats good lights. This set up gives about 1.5km by 200meters of light in front of the car.
Cost around $700 but is older then the car it is on so prob cheaper now.

Wiring upgrade and bulb upgrade done. $16 30min install pls bulbs of your choice. Mine were$24 from rock auto.
First pic is standard wiring with upgraded bulb on the drivers side. You can see it is whiter and brighter.
Tithe second pot is the same but yippy can see both are brighter and have a much cleaner projection. Defiantly worth it for$16. Hopefully the kit lasts well.

You can get a huge improvement simply by swapping out you stock headlight bulbs with H4 LED JW Speaker brand from Auto Barn. We have those in the rexs and they give off a good light.
