I have been giving this some thought and I think everyones right the only way im going to enjoy driving the ute is with the longer more comfortable leaves, which means extemted shackles. But why couldn't efs had made the hd springs the right length not sitting shackle foward and straight when loaded makes no sense all they had to do was copy a standard leaf and make it longer to compensate for the ark that lifts the vehicle, I'm no expert just giving what I think would have been right

Because the hd lwb spring is exactly that. It is designed to carry alot of weight in the back of a lwb. Thats why its not sold as a comfort lift. Fyi efs will do custom length top springs for sierras for $100ish a pair. I dare say 5-8mm shorter than there 65mm spring would mean no need to run extended shackles.

How did the standard 65mm springs handle weight.. I may go the same way you did with the 65mm springs and 2 inch shackles

They take 6 months to soften up, i had custom length springs on the 65mm rears in the end. 30mm longer than 65mm ones but ran standard for many years. I towed a trailer and carried work tools daily in mine with no issues

I wont be carrying weight often but will load it up when I go away, if the standard 65mm rears handle a trailer ill be laughing. I think im over estimating the weight I will be carrying. Why did you chnage to an even longer spring ? And did you run extened shackles on the front to ?

Yeah i went a longer spring in the rear for more flex same in the front. The front had hd lwb rears for the top springs and mix and match for the rest with 5 leafs on the drivers side front and 4 on the passenger side to combat the sierra lean they all get. Basically the more angle you can put on the shackle the further it can droop when the axle drops down. It also helps smooth out the ride.

I measured mine to suit, efs, rancho, kyb there all much the muchness. I ran a lowrange rear shock bar so the shocks are angled inward allowing a longer shock for max travel. You need to sort the springs and brakelines out then measure up for shocks. Off the shelf kits arnt much chop for ride quality or flex with the exeption of old man emu if your only after a medium capability car
