Hi everyone

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction - apologies if this is basic stuff, but car audio is not my forte!

I have a 2013 Jimny with the standard audio setup - I'd like to upgrade the sound, but I'm not looking to have anything too fancy.

From my understanding - the current headunit is a double-din. Does this mean I can replace it with any other double din? Or do I still need to get a fascia replacement? I've seen that supercheap auto have some good specials on at the moment on double-dins, so I'm not sure if it would be cheaper for me to get one, or get the fascia + a single din (hopefully that makes sense)

Once my head-unit is sorted, presumably the next step is getting a amplifier that is compatible and then some new speakers.

If anyone has any suggestions or setups that they have used, I would appreciate any input

I'm not looking to spent too much (i.e over $700) - I just feel that anything would be better than what's there already!

The fascia is roughly double din size but is still specific to that head unit, you can move to a double din specific fascia which can be bought from Suzuki.

In my opinion (and without much direct experience with the Jimny) my advice would be to leave the head unit alone and spend your dollars on speakers and sound deadening.

Is the problem poor sound quality or inadequate volume?

Changing the head unit will only have a tiny effect on sound quality, and there’s no point driving the standard speakers with an external amplifier.

Step 1- buy the best speakers you can afford, and install them well, adding sound deadening to prevent resonance.

If you then find you have inadequate volume you can investigate an amplifier.

The last thing I’d spend money on is the head unit- basically, I don’t reckon you don’t have enough budget to buy a good enough head unit to make enough difference to sound quality.
