Hi everyone. I have just done a m18a conversion in my 2008 Jimny. I took it for a drive and it seemed to get hot really quick. I haven't read anywhere that I need a bigger radiator. I am going to look at replacing the thermostat and possibly the radiator. Just odd that with a couple of minutes of driving it shot straight to the H. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks

Hi Jemma, Just in case you haven't already considered these points..... Maybe an airlock in the cooling system? Have the heater tap full open to hot, run the engine with the rad cap off & give the top & bottom rad hoses the occasional squeeze - watch out for the Fan!! + watch out for exhaust fumes in an enclosed space!! If you can feel similar heat in both hoses (+ the hoses to the heater core) after 10mins, then the thermostat is probably working ok. I haven't done this conversion - does the original Jimny thermostat get transferred onto the Liana engine? If so, if it was working ok with the M13BA, it should be working ok with the M18. Fan belt tensioned ok? Viscous hub didn't lose any fluid while it was off the engine?
