Transfer case jumping out of gear

Took Spooky over to Strady Island to try some beach driving. Lots of soft sand and stuck larger 4wds. Got bogged twice myself. :oops:

Finally worked out that the transfer case was jumping from 4H to neutral all by itself as I hit the real soft sand. Is it time for an overhaul or is there a quick fix for this problem?

Have you got a body lift?

When i put mine in mine was jumping out of 4L into N, but i just trimmed my transfer tunnel.

Spooky is a stock standard 90 Sierra other than the 1.6L engine.
