The Japanese link shows specs for the WT model with the 1500 cc engine.
Unsure whether this will translate over to international models though.

I've seen some other shots concerning the 1500 cc and specifically that it is their new K15B (also in the Ertiga). What I'm really waiting to see is what 4-speed AT they are going to use. As far as I can tell, the K15B has a max torque output of about 138 Nm and the TW-40 has a max input of 114.5 Nm. Not saying they will change but it doesn't make a lot of sense. Would love to see one of the 03-70 series in there.

I like that chiffon Ivory too......just not sure I could drive a car with that color name

I haven't stumbled across any of the info regarding transmissions as yet, apart from that the auto is a 4 and manual a 5 speed. If I do I'll be sure to drop something here.

Looks like they might have moved the passenger seats backwards a bit?
Has anyone seen any dimensions on the wheel base? Whilst the chassis looks similar to the current Jim I'm wondering if it's a bit shorter and that's why the passenger seats look further back (as there doesn't seem to be much more leg room?).

The only decent looking car they’ve ever made was the 1st gen soft top vitara and the cappuccino. Other than that it’s been basic utility, or bland, or generic, or “retro” (like this)

I don’t mind it, but I think defenders and Gwagens look good and can’t stand JK’s. So maybe I’m not the best judge.

I think it looks brilliant. About the only new car in the past few years I'd seriously consider buying new.... though common sense will mean I'll keep my Vitara for a bit longer until there's a secondhand market.

Would be nice if they'd offer a 5-door version with a 1.8-2.0L turbo diesel, but obviously not going to happen.

I actually really like the look the soft top concept, again, not real though.
The bumper even seems to look okay to me in this render, but on the whole it's still too chunky for my liking.

Looks like all the same gearbox/transfer/diff ratios as the VVT SN Jimny, so likely all the same mechanicals aside from the new engine.

Kerb weight 1090-1135 depending on model. Roughly 30kg more than the old one. GVM is lifted 15kg over the SN.

Approach an departure angle are both better than the SN, breakover is worse.

Interestingly track width is 50mm wider from and rear. Time will tell if that's in wheel offset or if the diffs are actually wider.

The electronics step into this decade too. Crash avoidance, traffic sign recognition, hill hold and HDC. The old one didn't even have bluetooth or cruise control!

It's official, we get the 1.5l engine here late this year.

It makes sense as the ratios and gear seems the same, however also surprising as everyone talks about how the 4 speed auto is designed for a 600cc engine and was at the torque limit with the 1.3. How can it take the power of the 1.5? People also seems to be having issues with the M18 swap and auto so it is just a little surprising.

Manufacturers have a history of running autos at the limit of their torque capacity. Mercedes-Benz did it plenty.

Doesn’t make it right.

Watching them on video makes them look more awkward than in static shots IMHO.

Yeah, but it’s not that far down on torque compared to the M18a (170nm vs 138nm). I have never heard of the auto lasting behind the M18 or I would have done the conversion as M18 with auto suits the terrain I drive.

The only vid I have seen is the insta vid chop posted above and that is just very slowly moving in soft sand. Any car in the same circumstance will look a little awkward.

I will not buy the new Jimny as I have just bought a bigger 4x4 from a different brand that suits the growing family needs a little better, but I think it looks good. Will be interesting to see how “on the limit” the drivetrain is though

Oh I didn’t mean awkward behaving- I’m sure it’s very similar to the existing Jimny for better or worse. I mean cosmetically. They look awkwardly proportioned- totally subjective and might not be the case in the flesh.

just thought I would chime in on this, and I'm sorry if someone else has allready pointed it out.

there is one major flaw I can see with it, why is there a chassis brace under the front prop shaft . RIP Modification - Traded for chassis rigidity

Oooo didn't see that before. Actually looking at it, there's a lot of chassis bracing... Could be for compliance/safety standards reasons... But not good for the modding communities.

Funny if I understood correct the wide track model only has a 36deg approach vs a 41 deg o the narrow track? And a difference on 1 deg departure in the rear. Different bumpers? The narrow track does look a little more awkward.
