Hi folks,
I'm looking at purchasing a 2009 2.4 Grand Vitara with 192k on the clock to replace my irreplaceable SJ70 which after 300,000 rugged kms is close to end of life. The GV is described as being a JTMYO8 upgrade. I was wondering if someone could tell me what the "upgrade" means. Does it mean that the head cracking problem on the J24B is addressed or is this still something to shy away from...?
Please feel free to add any other relevant comments about the 2009 GV (suspension, bar work, etc).

Hi Greg, Not exactly sure what the MY08 up-grade is going to be - the original 2005 wagons had J20A or H27A engines, about 2008 the 2.4 petrol & 1.9 diesel were introduced, so that might be it?. The early 2.4s seem to be most prone to cracking, but at 192k, it would have probably done it if it was going to do so. The new (re-bodied, old?) Jimny would be a more logical successor to your SJ70, however is going to be $25k+ on the road, where as the 2009 GV would want to be around $7-8k. Rgs, Michael
