'87 NT LWB Serria. I don't drive it much. Started Monday morning, went up to 1100rpm then slowly dropped to 850.
I drove 30K,s to the Cooktown crossing on the Mitchell (120 mls of water on the causeway), someone was filling water bottle in the middle, so I just idled across and no water would have splashed up to the electrics. Stopped at the gate 1K south, and the car stalled whilst I was getting the gate.

I drove another 5Ks to a friends place and if I was a bit tardy changing gears, it was going to stall, Talked about looking at it for the rest of the day.

No autochoke Tuesday morning, and won't idle. I can hold my toe on the accelerator, and will hold steady at whatever rev's. No misses on the highway coming home, but stalled whenever I stopped.

Have had a quick look at carby, and all's fine with hoses and wires.

In a perfect world, one of you would just drive out here and fix it for me, community service?.

Failing that where do you think I should start.

Thanking you in anticipation.

bye

When sierras and other carbed cars dont idle I always start with the fuel filter if it's dying out. But I'm far from an expert.

Maybe you got dirty fuel.

Thanks, been out all day, the final filter did look a bit rusty?, but it accelerated fine so I didn't bother pulling it off.

I'll rev and hand coke it and spray carby cleaner around, pull the filters off..maybe tomorrow arvo.

Crap in carby. Blocked filters. Fuel pump on its last legs.

I've got a filter just before the carby, the guts is rattling around, and had shit in it. I'm going into Mareeba tomorrow, and will replace the lot of them.

I hoping I don't have to touch the carby, 'cause it started correctly today, but stalled after two minutes.

I've had the guts breakaway once before, the plastic filters don't seem to handle rough roads if they can bump against something.

Three new filters, but must have shit it carby. I trimmed the ends off the hoses with Weiss scissors, and managed to cut through the meaty part of a finger. I'll try cloth on top of carby and swapping over 2 & 3 lead when I stop crying.

Finger is healed, thanks for your concern.
Car running like a bought one again. I jammed a stick on the throttle, red lined it and rag on the carby.
Most time consuming part was finding the rubber ring from under the hat. Was on the ground where I hadn't walked.

Yeah, I had sprayed carby cleaner in it whilst I found a stick long enough.
