i i just installed a 3k carb on my sj70 all went well started it up drove it about 300m and then tick tick tick tick tick started F#$K
i checked the timing its at -8 i pulled each plug one at a time but the tick still never went away, if i put the clutch in and out the ticks still there. i cant feel any hesitation and its idling ok
i removed the filter between carby and fuel pump and messed with the idle mix and still ticking, take rocker cover off and have a look at the tappers ?

No, opposite. The fuel pump on an efi car isn’t attached to the crank case. (Well they might be in some very late model direct injection cars but not a g motor.

Oil Level looks fine, I took carby off and made sure the butterfly or something had not snapped off and fell into the manifold that all looks fine I'm 100 percent nothing dropped in it I had it sealed up the whole time. I'm starting to think tappet issue, will keep looking.

noise seems to have pissed off at the moment, i do think the oil i got in her is a little thick 20w-60 and will be changing to 20w-50 soon but she was sitting for a month between a start so maybe something just needed a good run to get it going again.
