Hi all, just bought a 1996 SJ413 and have rebuilt the G13BA engine on it, now I’m up to converting to power steering but have run into some issues. I bought the BenT kit and got the power steering setup off what I believe was a 16V G16B Vitara. The BenT instructions say that you’ll need the water pump, alternator (and crank? Instructions unclear) pulleys off an 8V G16A - sure enough I found that the water pump off the 16V doesn’t line up with the crank pulley. The alternator (off the same Vitara) seems to however: I’ve ordered a G16A water pump pulley, so that should fix that problem. The power steering pulley doesn’t line up with the crank pulley either though - it sits too far out. I haven’t been able to find any mention of this problem on the forums or the net - am struggling with whether I need to order a different crank pulley (most sites seem to show the G16A and G16B crank pulleys as the same/interchangeable though?).

The difference between the g series 8v and 16v engines is the 16v engines have a wider timing belt . Therefore the accerories are spaced further forward on the engine . That is why it says to get an 8v waterpump pulley . Likewise you need an 8 valve powersteering pump bracket .

Thanks for the reply Chris. Bit annoying that it’s not mentioned anywhere that you need the 8V stuff except for on the instructions that come with the adaptor kit - maybe a heads up for BenT to chuck that on the description on the site?

I ended up just redrilling the mounting bracket and moving it back about 6 mil - works perfectly.
