My rack is leaking from the passenger side seal. Just a weep at the moment as I'm not having to top up the fluid. It's been like this for about 10,000s but will get worse at some point.

So far I've been told by two sources that there are no replacement parts and the whole rack needs to be replaced.

Genuine replacement quote $1,600.

Does anyone have experience sourcing these new or refurbished?

I think for a 16 year old car with 210,000k's I'd probably get the hoses replaced at the same time.

Any advice? Does the price sound right? Can they be rebuilt?

Suzuki doesn't make internal parts available but there are aftermarket rebuild kits with all the various seals etc..

I found a Gates kit from America but I'll be waiting till n July and will a lhd kit fit a rhd car?

A couple of years back I bought a rebuild kit off of ebay Australia (the seller was BrakePadsOnline), because I wasn't certain about the LHD/RHD compatibility - when I received it, I discovered that the Aussie supplier had sourced it out of the US, so I suspect there is no problem with LHD/RHD.

My rack "weeps" into the driver's side rack boot and the fluid loss is insignificant, so I have not yet had it rebuilt and I have no idea if it's the correct rebuild kit.

Eastern Suburbs Power steering (In Melb, Vic) recoed a rack for me about 2 years aho - didn't have an exchange unit on the shelf - probably understandably, but was able to do a quick turn around of the customers own rack (can't remember exactly, but it was 2-3 days - the customer had another car, so it wasn't so much of an issue to have it immobile for the time involved).
Faults were wear in the drivers rack end & a unnatural 'notchyness' feel - wasn't leaking / weeping though.
Came back good & was around the $400 mark (trade).
