So I've got a 94 Vitara JLX Estate Wagon with electric windows and to be honest I just don't really want them. I want a bare bones simple 4wd and I think it's kinda cool having to roll the windows down. The front and back windows on the left side don't go up or down at the mo anyway and the motors on the right side have about had it too.
Anyone done it? I know its probably not the kind of mod that people do but I'd be interested to see what needs to be done to make it work. Thanks.

I haven't done it myself, but a glance at the parts manual suggests the biggest challenge is going to be locating the parts needed, regulator, winder, door cards, etc.

Just find a set of doors from a JX at a wrecker and pull the parts required.

Be aware that JX's had very basic door cards compared to the JLX and you'll need to swap them over too as the JLX cars don't have provision for the winder.

another alternative - one of my old jeeps [an ex U.S.A. posties DJ5F right hand drive JEEP with sliding doors] had door windows that slid up and down, you just grabbed the little handle and hoiked the window up or down.

I'm there was a spring of some type involved - but the windows never moved from where you left them.
