First - do the "normal" dash lights (oil pressure & charge) come on when the key is turned to on? If not, find out why.
Second - if the "normal" dash lights come on, and the check engine light does not - find out why - start with the bulb, and then the power to the ECU.

If it's an immobilizer fault, there should be a warning light of some sort and a check engine code as well.

Have you checked the air cleaner element for water?.
The air intake is behind the R/H/F inner wheelarch liner - if that is the bit that fell down & water got into & past the air cleaner element, it can be enough to put the fire out in the cylinders.
At cranking speed, water remains in the cylinders.
Take the spark plugs out to see if they are wet.
If so, leave them out & tow the car down the road in gear (if a manual) to turn the engine over faster to get the last of the water out, refit plugs & hope no damage was done.

Just my $0.02 - you're not going to get water in the engine from driving in the rain - the intake on the 2.5 is above the wheel, at least 75cm above the road surface.

Serious question - have you tried washing it out (use isopropyl alcohol) and letting it dry?

Well I was going to suggest Dr Suzuki but too slow.

I had success with James in the UK from rhino power. It wasn't a quick process but only cost me a few hundred in the end. You'll probably need to send the ecu, key and immobiliser module.

I could probably get it repaired but you could be looking at up to $650 providing it can be repaired.

33920 is what identifies the part as an ECU, 99% of the Suzuki ECUs start with 33920, the 52J41 tells you which vehicle - in this case an Australian market SQ625-3 with manual transmission.
