Vehicle: JB43 2014 manual

Hey all
I'm new to the forum!
I'm in Sydney, I have a 2014 Jimny JB43 manual.
I need to replace the wiring harness but can't use the VIN, as the Jimny was originally an auto, so if I contact a Suzuki dealer I just get the part number for the auto loom.
Any suggestions on:
1. Part number
2. Where to get my hands on the right loom/harness?

Thanks so much
Cheers
Amber

Hi Amber,

Perhaps you are asking the wrong questions? Reading between the lines, it looks like your Jimny was an auto and you are in the process of converting it to a manual? If that is true then maybe you should be asking an auto sparky to adapt your loom? My Vitara was auto and I converted it to manual and retained the original loom, it took some head scratching at the plug next to the gearbox as they were different.

Another way to look at it is to research Vin numbers as 1 character denotes transmission and try your Vin with manual character inserted?

Another way is to find the same model Jimny in a car yard that is manual and use that vin?

Hope this helps

Hi there
Thanks heaps for your response.
I bought the jimny as is, and looks like previous owner converted to manual but didn't finish the job. Means I get check engine lights and other weird wiring issues like it won't go into 4WD low.
I've taken it to an auto spark who has looked at it in detail and reckons it needs a manual wiring harness to be fitted. I'm not having much luck tracking one down.
Thanks for the tip about the VINs.
Any suggestions of a good wreckers or parts place?
Cheers

Hi Amber,

So now I understand more, my advice hasn't really changed, but it sounds like you may have more than one problem?:

Get another auto sparky! One that is old enough to have more experience but young enough to know fuel injected cars with computers. Maybe ask them to compare the 2 different wiring diagrams?

Also I assume you have no idea what is involved in changing a loom?

Removing and replacing the wiring loom is a massive job and is very likely to cause far more issues than it solves. First stop is to determine what the trouble code actually is. As it's a 2014 model, this should be possible with an OBDII reader. Then you can deal with the fault(s) only.

The errors you're getting may or may not be associated with the conversion, but it's unlikely the wiring loom will solve any of them.

I agree, you need a better mechanic/auto elec, well before you need a new wiring loom.
